Where is Toolbar Customization Information Stored in Excel?

Toolbar customization information is stored in the Windows Registry. The specific location depends on the version of Excel you are using:

  • Excel 97: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\8.0\Excel\Options
  • Excel 2000: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Excel\Options
  • Excel 2002: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\10.0\Excel\Options
  • Excel 2003: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Excel\Options
  • Excel 2007: HKEY_CURRENT_USER \Software \Microsoft \Office \12.0 \Excel \Options
  • Excel 2010: HKEY_CURRENT_USER \Software \Microsoft \Office \14.0 \Excel \Options

Note: If you are using a 64-bit version of Microsoft Office, the path in the registry will be different. For example, for Excel 2010 it would be: HKEY_CURRENT_USER \Software \Wow6432Node \Microsoft \Office \14.0 \Excel Options.
