Using a Custom Format to Add Dashes in Excel

Adding dashes in Excel can be done using a custom format. To do this, select the cells that you want to add dashes to. Then, go to the 'Format' tab and select 'Cells'. In the 'Number' tab, select 'Custom' from the list of options. In the 'Type' field, enter the following:


This will add dashes to your selected cells. You can also use this same method to add other characters, such as commas or periods. Simply change the 0-000-000 to whatever format you want. For example, if you wanted to add commas, you would use 0,000,000.
