Smoothing out Data Series in Excel

There are a few ways to smooth out data series in Excel. One way is to use the Moving Average tool. To do this, select your data series, then click on the "Data" tab. In the "Data Tools" group, click on the "Moving Average" button. In the dialog box that appears, select the "Linear Weighted" option and click OK. This will add a new data series to your chart that is the moving average of your original data series.

Another way to smooth out data series in Excel is to use the Lowess Smoothing tool. To do this, select your data series, then click on the "Data" tab. In the "Data Tools" group, click on the "Lowess Smoothing" button. In the dialog box that appears, select the desired smoothing factor and click OK. This will add a new data series to your chart that is the lowess smoothed version of your original data series.

You can also smooth out data series by using trendlines. To do this, select your data series, then click on the "Chart Tools" tab. In the "Trendline" group, click on the "Add Trendline" button. In the dialog box that appears, select the desired trendline type and click OK. This will add a trendline to your chart that represents the overall trend of your data series.
