Setting Vertical Alignment in Excel

There are a few different ways to set vertical alignment in Excel. You can use the Format Cells dialog box, the Alignment tab of the Format Cells dialog box, or the alignment buttons on the Home tab. You can also use keyboard shortcuts to quickly set vertical alignment.

Format Cells Dialog Box

To access the Format Cells dialog box:

  1. Select the cells that you want to format.
  2. On the Home tab, in the Font group, click Format Cells. Or, right-click the selection, and then click Format Cells. The Format Cells dialog box appears.

Alignment Tab

Horizontal: Select an option from the list to align the contents of the selected cells horizontally. You can choose from Left, Center, Right, Fill, Justify, Center Across Selection, Distributed, and Thai Distributed.

  • Left: Aligns cell contents at the left edge of the cell.
