Running Out of Memory in Excel

If you're running out of memory in Excel, there are a few things you can do to try and free up some space.

  1. First, try and close any other programs that you have open. This will free up some memory on your computer.
  2. Next, try and save your workbook as a .xlsx file. This will help reduce the file size and may help free up some memory.
  3. If you have any macros or add-ins installed, try disabling them or uninstalling them. This may help free up some memory.
  4. You can also try increasing the amount of memory that Excel has to work with. To do this, go to File > Options > Advanced > Memory Usage and increase the number in the 'Memory Usage' field.

If you're still running out of memory, you may need to upgrade your computer or get more RAM. If you have a lot of data in your workbook, you may also want to consider splitting it into multiple workbooks.
