When preparing data for import into Access, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, Access has a limit of 255 characters for text fields, so any data in Excel that exceeds this limit will need to be truncated. Second, Access does not support data types such as currency or date/time, so these will need to be converted to text fields. Finally, make sure that all required fields in Access are populated in the Excel spreadsheet - any blank fields will cause errors when importing.
To prepare your data:
- In Excel, select the cells that you want to export.
- On the Home tab, in the Clipboard group, click Copy.
- Open the Access database into which you want to paste the data.
- On the Home tab, in the Records group, click Paste.
- In the Paste dialog box, under Paste Options, do one of the following:
- To paste only the data from the selection (without formatting), click No Formatting.
