Limiting Who Can Delete Data in Excel

There are a few ways to limit who can delete data in Excel. One way is to password protect your workbook. To do this, go to the File tab and click Save As. In the Save As dialog box, click the Tools button and then click General Options. Type a password in the Password to open text box and click OK. Re-enter the password in the Confirm Password dialog box and click OK. Your workbook will now be password protected.

Another way to limit who can delete data in Excel is by using data validation. Data validation is a feature in Excel that allows you to specify what kind of data can be entered into a cell. To use data validation, select the cells that you want to restrict. On the Data tab, in the Data Tools group, click Data Validation. In the Data Validation dialog box, on the Settings tab, under Allow:, click one of the following options:

  • Whole number

  • Decimal

  • List: Specify a list of items that you want to allow.

  • Date : Specify a date or range of dates that you want to allow.

  • Time : Specify a time or range of times that you want to allow.
