Importing Custom Lists in Excel

Excel allows you to import custom lists to make data entry easier and faster. To import a custom list, follow these steps:

  1. Click the File tab, and then click Options.
  2. In the left pane of the Excel Options dialog box, click Advanced.
  3. Scroll down to the General section, and then click Edit Custom Lists.
  4. In the Custom Lists dialog box, click Import.
  5. In the Import List from Cells dialog box, do one or both of the following:
    • To import a list from an adjacent range of cells, click Collapse Dialog. Select the range of cells that contains the list, and then click Expand Dialog.
    • To import a list from a non-adjacent range of cells, click Specify Range. In the Import Data dialog box, type the cell addresses that contain the list in the Range box.
  6. Click OK.
