How to Use Conditional Formatting to Check for Data Type in Excel

Conditional formatting is a great way to quickly check for data type in Excel. To use conditional formatting to check for data type, follow these steps:

  1. Select the cells you want to format.
  2. On the Home tab, in the Styles group, click Conditional Formatting.
  3. Click Data Bars, Color Scales, or Icon Sets, depending on the conditional formatting rule you want to create.
  4. Click a rule, and then click OK.
