How to Specify an Order for Page Printing in Excel

When printing an Excel spreadsheet, you have a few options for specifying the order in which pages print. By default, Excel will print your sheet in sequential order from top to bottom, left to right. However, you can change the page order settings so that Excel prints in a different sequence.

To specify the page order for printing in Excel:

  1. Open the worksheet that you want to print.
  2. Click File, and then click Print. The Print dialog box appears.
  3. Click Properties. The Page Setup dialog box appears.
  4. In the Page Order section, click the option that you want:
    • Down, then Over:

This is the default setting. Pages print from top to bottom, left to right. For example, if your worksheet has four pages, they print in this order: 1, 2, 3, 4.

    • Over, then Down:

Pages print from left to right, top to bottom. For example, if your worksheet has four pages, they print in this order: 1, 3, 2, 4.

    • Custom Page Order:

You can specify a custom page order. To do this:

    1. Click the first page that you want to print.
    2. Hold down Ctrl, and click each additional page that you want to print in that sequence. For example, if you want to print pages 1 and 3 in that order, click page 1 first and then hold down Ctrl, and click page 3.

  1. Click OK. The Page Setup dialog box closes.
