Combining and Formatting Times in Excel

There are a few different ways to combine and format times in Excel. One way is to use the CONCATENATE function. This function can be used to combine text and numbers, or two numbers together. To use this function, select the cell where you want the combined time to appear. Then, type =CONCATENATE( into the cell, followed by the cells containing the times you want to combine. For example, if you wanted to combine the times in cells A1 and B1, you would type =CONCATENATE(A1,B1). Once you have selected the cells you want to combine, close the parentheses and press Enter. The combined time will appear in the cell.

Another way to combine and format times in Excel is to use the TEXT function. This function can be used to format a number or date as text. To use this function, select the cell where you want the combined time to appear. Then, type =TEXT( into the cell, followed by the cells containing the times you want to combine. For example, if you wanted to combine the times in cells A1 and B1, you would type =TEXT(A1,"hh:mm"),TEXT(B1,"hh:mm"). The hh represents hours and mm represents minutes. You can also use other codes to represent different parts of a time, such as ss for seconds or d for days. Once you have selected the cells you want to combine and formatted them as text, close the parentheses and press Enter. The combined time will appear in the cell as text.

You can also use the & operator to concatenate text and numbers together without using a function. To do this, select the cell where you want the combined time to appear. Then type =A1&B1 if you wanted to concatenate cells A1 and B1 together. The combined time will appear in the cell without any spaces between the two times.

If you want to add two times together, you can use the SUM function. To use this function, select the cell where you want the sum of the times to appear. Then type =SUM( into the cell, followed by the cells containing the times you want to add together. For example, if you wanted to add together the times in cells A1 and B1, you would type =SUM(A1:B1). Once you have selected all of the cells containing times that you want to add together, close the parentheses and press Enter. The sum of those times will appear in hh:mm format in whichever cell you selected.
