How to Automatically Adjust Column Width in Excel Using a Shortcut

If you work with large amounts of data in Microsoft Excel, you may find yourself constantly having to adjust column widths to make everything fit. This can be a tedious and time-consuming task, especially if you have a lot of columns. Luckily, there is a shortcut you can use to automatically adjust column width in Excel so that everything fits perfectly.

To use this shortcut, simply select the column or columns you want to adjust. Then, press and hold the Ctrl key on your keyboard. While holding Ctrl, press the + key once. This will automatically adjust the column width to fit the widest entry in the column. If you want to adjust multiple columns at once, simply select them all before pressing the shortcut keys.

You can also use this shortcut to automatically adjust row height in Excel. Simply select the row or rows you want to adjust, then press and hold the Ctrl key on your keyboard. While holding Ctrl, press the + key twice. This will automatically adjust the row height to fit the tallest entry in the row.

If you want to adjust both column width and row height at the same time, simply select the cells you want to adjust. Then, press and hold the Ctrl key on your keyboard. While holding Ctrl, press the + key three times. This will automatically adjust both the column width and row height to fit the widest and tallest entries in the selection.

Remember, you can always undo any changes you make with this shortcut by pressing Ctrl+Z. And, if you want to adjust column width or row height manually, simply double-click on the boundary between two cells.

So next time you're working with a large Excel spreadsheet, save yourself some time by using this shortcut to automatically adjust column width or row height.
