Google Sheets

ROUND is a function in Google Sheets that rounds a number to a certain number of decimal places. You can use it to round numbers up or down, depending on the rounding mode you choose. To use ROUND, type =ROUND(number, decimals) into a cell, where number is the number you want to round and decimals is the number of decimal places you want to round to.

The syntax of the ROUND function in Google Sheets is as follows: ROUND(number, num_digits) number - The number to round. num_digits - The number of digits to round to.

The ROUND function in Google Sheets can be used to round numbers to a certain number of decimal places. For example, the following formula would round the number 9.87 to two decimal places, resulting in 9.88:

=ROUND(9.87,2)

There are a few occasions when you should not use the ROUND function in Google Sheets. One instance is when you need to preserve the decimal places in a number. For example, if you are rounding a number to the nearest whole number, and the number 5.678 is rounded to 6, the 5.678 is changed to 6, but the .678 is changed to 0. This is not what you want if you are trying to keep track of data with decimal places. Another time you should not use ROUND is when you are rounding a number up or down to a certain number of decimal places. For example, if you are rounding a number to two decimal places and the number 5.678 is rounded to 5.68, the 5.678 is changed to 5.68, but the .678 is changed to 0. This will also not give you the desired outcome if you are trying to track data with decimal places.

The Google Sheets ROUND function rounds a number to a given number of decimal places. There are several similar formulae that you can use to round numbers in Google Sheets. The ROUNDDOWN function rounds a number down to the nearest integer. The ROUNDUP function rounds a number up to the nearest integer. The TRUNC function truncates a number to the nearest integer. The CEILING function rounds a number up to the nearest integer, or to the nearest multiple of significance if specified. The FLOOR function rounds a number down to the nearest integer, or to the nearest multiple of significance if specified.
