Converting Numeric Values to Times in Excel

You can convert numeric values to times in Excel by using the TIMEVALUE function. This function takes a numeric value and converts it to a time. The TIMEVALUE function is useful when you have data that is stored as a numeric value but you want to view it as a time. For example, if you have data that is stored in seconds, you can use the TIMEVALUE function to convert it to a time format.

To use the TIMEVALUE function, enter the following into a cell:

Where A1 is the cell that contains the numeric value that you want to convert to a time. The TIMEVALUE function will return the time in the hh:mm:ss format. You can then format the cell as a time format to display the time in a different format, such as mm:ss or h:mm:ss.
