Changing the Starting Page Number in Excel

To change the starting page number in Excel, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Page Layout tab.
  2. In the Page Setup group, click Page Setup. The Page Setup dialog box appears.
  3. On the Margins tab, under Header/Footer, do one or both of the following:
    • To change the starting page number for a worksheet or workbook, enter the number that you want in the Start at box.

    • To change the numbering format for a section, click Different first page under Header/Footer, and then do one or both of the following:

  • (For a worksheet) In the First page number box, enter the number that you want.

  • (For a workbook) Under Page numbering, click Start at, and then enter the number that you want in the box.

  1. (Optional)) To add or change text in your header or footer, under Header or Footer, click Custom Header or Custom Footer. The Header and Footer Tools tab appears.

    • (Optional)) To add a built-in element such as page numbers, date, or time to your header or footer, under Insert >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Click to add <<<<<<<<< , do one of the following:
      a. To add other information such as sheet name or file path to your header or footer, click <custom header or custom footer text here>. Enter the information that you want.
      b. To format text in your header or footer, select the text that you want to format.
      c. On the Header & Footer Tools tab, under (Header or Footer) Tools, click Font and then make the changes that you want.
      d. To insert a picture in your header or footer, under Insert > Picture <; click Picture. Locate and double-click the picture that you want to insert. If necessary, on the Format tab (under Header &; Footer Tools), do any of the following:
      • i.To resize a picture manually so it fits in your header or footer space without distortion (maintaining its original proportions), drag any corner handle toward or away from its opposite side until it's approximately "x" inches wide by "y" inches tall. If necessary , on
        the Format tab (under Header &; Footer Tools), click Crop &; Set Transparent Color to fine tune it. You can also crop pictures by using "Picture Styles." For more information about how to crop pictures by using Picture Styles see "Crop pictures."
        ii.To keep a picture from being printed with your document (but still visible onscreen), clear "Print" check box under Printing Options.
        iii.If you don't want a border around your picture (or if you want to adjust its color), on the Format tab (under Header &; Footer Tools), click Shape Outline &; Effects and then make any changes that you want in
        the dialog box.>
