Allowing for Words that Contain Numbers in Excel

When it comes to working with numbers in Microsoft Excel, there are a few things you need to keep in mind. One of those things is that you need to be careful when using words that contain numbers. This is because Excel will automatically convert those words into numbers, and this can cause some problems.

To avoid this, you need to use a couple of different techniques. The first is to use quotation marks around the word. For example, if you wanted to enter the word "twenty-three" into a cell, you would need to type it as "twenty-three". This tells Excel that you want the word entered as text, and not as a number.

The second technique is to use the @ symbol before the word. This also tells Excel that you want the word entered as text, and not as a number. For example, if you wanted to enter the word "twenty-three" into a cell, you would need to type it as "@twenty-three".

You can also use both techniques together. For example, if you wanted to enter the word "twenty-three" into a cell, you would need to type it as "@"twenty-three". This tells Excel that you want the word entered as text, and not as a number.

Once you have entered the word into the cell using one of these techniques, you can then format the cell as needed. For example, if you wanted to make the word bold, you would select the cell and then click on the "B" button in the toolbar. Or, if you wanted to change the font size, you would select the cell and then click on the drop-down arrow next to the font size in the toolbar and select the desired size.

Keep in mind that when using words that contain numbers in Excel, it's important to be careful about how you enter them. Using quotation marks or the @ symbol will ensure that they are entered as text and not as numbers. And once they are entered into the cell, you can then format them as needed.
