How to Use the Excel Shortcut to Repeat Your Last Action

If you're anything like me, you're always looking for ways to work smarter, not harder. That's why I was excited to learn about the Excel shortcut that allows you to repeat your last action. Whether you're copying and pasting data, formatting cells, or performing any other task in Excel, this shortcut can save you time and help you work more efficiently.

To use the Excel shortcut to repeat your last action, simply press the F4 key on your keyboard. This shortcut will work regardless of what you last did in Excel. For example, if you last copied and pasted data, pressing F4 will repeat that action. If you last formatted cells, pressing F4 will repeat that action. And so on.

One thing to keep in mind is that the F4 shortcut will only work if your last action was performed using the mouse. If you last performed an action using a keyboard shortcut, pressing F4 will not repeat that action. Instead, it will simply select the cell in the upper-left corner of the worksheet (the cell in column A and row 1).

Another thing to keep in mind is that the F4 shortcut will only work if the action you want to repeat is still available. For example, if you last copied data from one worksheet to another, pressing F4 will only repeat that action if the data you copied is still in the clipboard. If you've since copied other data to the clipboard, pressing F4 will not repeat the action of copying data from one worksheet to another.

Finally, keep in mind that the F4 shortcut will only work if the action you want to repeat is Undo-able. For example, if you last deleted a row of data, pressing F4 will only repeat that action if the row of data you deleted is still in the worksheet (in other words, if you haven't saved the worksheet since deleting the row).

So there you have it! The next time you're performing a repetitive task in Excel, save yourself some time by using the F4 shortcut to repeat your last action.
