How to Delete a Shortcut in Excel

If you have a shortcut on your desktop that you no longer need, you can delete it by following the steps below. Keep in mind that deleting a shortcut does not delete the file or program that the shortcut was pointing to.

  1. Right-click on the shortcut that you want to delete.
  2. Click Delete in the pop-up menu.
  3. Click Yes in the confirmation dialog box.

If you want to delete multiple shortcuts at once, you can do so by holding down the Ctrl key while clicking on each shortcut, then following the steps above.

You can also delete shortcuts from the Start Menu or Taskbar by right-clicking on them and selecting Delete from the pop-up menu.

If you accidentally delete a shortcut, you can usually restore it by opening the Recycle Bin and restoring the shortcut from there.
